What is the birthday flowers, flower language?
Birthday flowers are allocated to birthdays and dates of birth (366 days each).
The origin of the birth flower was described in the thought of people in the Greek and Roman mythological ages as “in nature there is a god who controls each” and “flowers and trees have mysterious power and a message from god”. The birth flower and the language of flowers are the combination of the god and flowers and made into a calendar.
At present, however, flowers and the language of flowers are familiar throughout the world, and there are major differences in flowers and the language of flowers depending on countries, regions, races and religions.
In other words, the right birth flower does not exist, and the birth flower or flower language is “You can choose your favorite birth flower by yourself” ^ ^
The details are described in this article, so please check ✅ ^ ^
God tells us through the flowers your destiny.
Let’s take a look at the origin of the name of each romantic and mysterious birth flower that TORAZOU selected through arbitrary decision and prejudice.
Origin of the name of the flower selected by TORAZOU
As mentioned above, TORAZOU selected the birth flower of the appetizer work of the popular series “Personal Jewelry” by TORAZOU’s arbitrary decision and prejudice, and we will introduce the origin of the name of the birth flower and the reason for the selection.
January’s Birthday Flower ‘Daffodil’
Daffodils have been loved in Europe since ancient times.
It also appeared in a poem by Homer in 800 BC, and it became a motif of Greek mythology.
Daffodil comes from the Dutch word affodil, which comes from the Greek asphodelos, a species of liliaceous perennial plants.
The scientific name is “narcissus.”
The scientific name “Narcissus” is said to be derived from the name of a beautiful boy appearing in Greek mythology.
“Narcissus” is the origin of the word “narcissist” in Greek mythology, and it is said to be “narcissism” which is one of the flower words of daffodils.
However, the original etymology seems to come from the Greek “narke” which means “paralyze”.
It is because the component in the bulb of daffodils has a hypnotic effect.
…Really ^ ^;
I think the origin of the name of daffodils is (Maybe a myth was born because of daffodils?) from Greek mythology, so it was selected as TORAZOU’s January Birthday Flower!

February’s Birthday Flower ‘Plum’
It seems that the origin of ume was brought to Japan during the period of Japanese envoys to Sui Dynasty China.
Unfortunately, it does not appear in Greek and Roman mythology, so it may not be a birth flower determined by God.
In Japan, however, the plum blossoms are the symbol of prosperity, pride, and longevity since the Edo period, since they are the plants that convey the news of spring the most in the severe cold, and it is said that even the Heian period aristocrat 菅原道真(Sugawara no Michizane) loved them.
菅原道真(Sugawara no Michizane), the god of learning, was disliked for his talent and was relegated to Dazaifu(In the latter half of the seventh century of Japan, a local administrative organ was established in Chikuzen no kuni in Kyushu.) in Kyushu. At that time, there is a legend that a plum tree that he had raised carefully flew to 菅原道真(Sugawara no Michizane). Based on this, the word “忠実(Faithful)” is one of the words used to express Japanese plum flowers.
The plum is a flower representing Japan in spring, and I thought it was a flower that I wanted to make a birthday flower, so I selected it as Torazou’s February birthday flower ^ ^

March’s Birthday Flower ‘Anemone’
The name anemone comes from the Greek word “anemos” which means “wind,” and it is said that the name comes from the fact that the flowers bloom around the time when the spring wind blows.
In addition to anemone, it is called “Windflower”.
Anemone also appears in two Greek and Roman mythologies.
The story of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, and Adonis (Venus in Roman mythology), the beautiful boy, and Zephyrus, the westerly god who carries the spring wind.
Both are tragedies caused by jealousy due to love.
The reason why Anemone has so many sad flower words seems to be because of these Greek and Roman myths.
The details of the myth will be compiled later!
In addition, Anemone contains a toxic ingredient called Protoanemonin that causes skin inflammation in the liquid that comes out when cutting stems.
Beautiful flowers are poisonous! This is the iron rule ^ ^
Thinking that anemone has a great relationship with God, I selected it as TORAZOU’s birthday flower for March.

During Japan’s Yayoi period (300 B.C. to 250 B.C.), Sakura were treated as “sacred trees” where the god of grain dwells, and the blooming of the trees was considered a signal for the start of agricultural work.
At present, sakura are loved by the Japanese as a “flower that symbolizes Japan,” and the world is recognizing them in the Japanese word “sakura.”
In addition, the sakura look beautiful but fleeting and falling like a 武士(bushi), which is perfect for the “武士道精神(Bushi-do spirit)” of Japan.
Sakura are THE ★ Japanese flowers! It is like that ^ ^
Furthermore, the “spiritual beauty” and “excellent education” of the sakura language comes from the story of George Washington, the first president of the United States of America, who, as a child, accidentally broke a cherry tree that his father treasured, and frankly apologized and praised the tree.
“Chastity” is derived from the lovely appearance of the sakura and the graceful beauty of the flowers, and “graceful women” from the elegant beauty of the sakura.
Sakura does not appear in Greek or Roman mythology, which is the origin of the birth flower, so it may not be the original birth flower.
However, I thought that the sakura filled with the heart of Japan is suitable for the birth flower of spring, so I selected it as the birth flower of April in TORAZOU!

May’s Birthday Flower ‘Carnation’
There are several theories about the origin of the name carnation, including that the flower resembles the color of a piece of meat (the Latin carn), or that the British poet Edmund Spencer (1552 ~ 1599) used the flower to make a corona at a feast to prevent intoxication.
Another theory is that the name carnation comes from the fact that it was used as a coronation flower during William Shakespeare’s time.
Its scientific name, Dianthus caryophyllus L., means ‘flower of God’ in Greek.
In Greek mythology, there is a story of Sonix, a beautiful woman who is good at making carnation caps, and Apollo, the sun god.
This Greek myth also has a “cap” in common.
Furthermore, there is a tradition in Europe that carnations grew out of the tears that the Virgin Mary shed when Christ was executed.
Then, on May 12, 1907, two years after the death of Ann Jarvis, who campaigned to improve the sanitary conditions of wounded soldiers, calling it Mother’s Work Day, in West Virginia during the middle of the American Civil War (1861 ~ 1865), her daughter, Anna Jarvis, held a memorial service in memory of her deceased mother and distributed white carnations that her mother loved.
This is said to be the origin of “Mother’s Day,” and white carnations have become established as flowers for Mother’s Day.
In 1914, in the United States, the second Sunday in May was designated as a day to show gratitude to mothers, and in Japan, from around 1949, the second Sunday in May became Mother’s Day.
Carnation is related to Greek mythology, and I thought it was the flower of May that is familiar with “Mother’s Day”, so I selected it as Torazou’s birthday flower of May!

It is said that the Japanese name ‘薔薇(bara)/rose’ is a corrupted form of ‘茨(ibara)/thorns’ which is a general term for thorny shrubs.
Furthermore, in Greek mythology, the rose is used as a symbol of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty.
Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, appears frequently in mythology.
It is the main cast ^ ^
It is said that Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty in Greek mythology, gave it the flower language of “love” and “beauty.”

July’s Birthday Flower ‘Water lily’
The water lilies that bloom beautifully on the surface of the water have an elegant and fantastic image.
It is also known as the flower that the French master Claude Monet loved.
The scientific name of the water lily, Nymphaea Hybrids, is said to be derived from the Greek nymph of the water spirit.
The origin of the name of water lilies in Japan is that the flower of water lilies opens its petals during the day and closes in the afternoon, and this repetition lasts for 3 days and then dies. It is compared to a cycle of waking up in the daytime and sleeping at night, and it became “water lilies” from “sleeping lilies”.
Furthermore, in Greek mythology there is a story of the beautiful fairy girl “Rotis” who transformed into a water lily, and the flower language of “faith” was born from the fact that water lilies were drawn on murals in ancient Egypt and became a symbol of the sun and appeared in Egyptian decorations and mythology.
Water-lilies like that are deeply connected to the gods and pure and pure, and I thought that this flower will capture everyone’s heart, so I selected it as Torazou’s birthday flower for July!

August’s Birthday Flower ‘Sunflower’
At present, the Japanese name for sunflowers is often written in kanji as “向日葵(himawari),” but in fact, the official Japanese name is like “日輪草(himawari)”
The reason it is called “Himawari” is because the flowers follow the movement of the 日hi(sun).
In reality, however, the only time flowers turn toward the sun is when the flower buds have soft necks.
During the day, the flowers turn around as the sun moves, turn back when the sun goes down, and turn east after they grow and bloom.
Some say sunflowers are called sunflowers because they look like the sun, while others say sunflowers have changed from “following the sun” to “sun-follow.”
In addition, there is a Greek myth that the sea spirit Chrythier, the daughter of the sea god, fell in love with the sun god Apollo at first sight, fell in unrequited love, stared at the sun all the time, and turned into the sunflower nine days later.
It is said that the flower language of “only looking at you” was born from this myth.
Louis 14, who built the Palace of Versailles, was also called the “King of the Sun,” and loved sunflowers so much that he even made his own crest.
Everyone is fascinated by the sunflowers like the shining sun in August, and I think it is a symbol that keeps thinking straight and wholeheartedly, so I selected it as Torazou’s birthday flower for August!

September’s Birthday Flower ‘Dahlia’
Daria is native to the American continent, and it was introduced to Europe around the 18 century, so it is a birth flower that has nothing to do with Greek and Roman mythology.
The name Dahlia comes from Swedish botanist Anders Dahl.
The scientific name is Dahilia pinnata and pinata means “feathery”.
The dahlia was introduced to Japan in the Edo period in the 19 century, and it was brought to Nagasaki by a Dutch ship. It is called “天竺牡丹(Tenjiku-botan)” in Japanese because its shape looks like peony.
The Aztec people in Mexico worshiped it as a medicinal herb and a sacred flower as a tonic. The dahlia has become the national flower of Mexico.
Then, during the French Revolution, Napoleon’s wife Josephine loved her so much that she raised her dahlia only in her own garden. And the noble woman who envied it stole the dahlia and grew it in her own garden and made it bloom. Josephine lost her interest in Daria after being betrayed.
This is said to be the origin of the negative language of flowers, such as “capricious.”
Furthermore, it seems that Daria was also loved by one of Germany’s most famous literary figures, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Thinking that dahlia, a flower loved all over the world, is a symbol of love, it was selected as TORAZOU’s birthday flower in September!

Gerbera was discovered in South Africa and grew wild in gold mines. The small chrysanthemum was brought back to England, and at the end of the 19 century, about 35 original species were crossed repeatedly. Gerbera was born in Europe.
The name appears to be in honor of Traugott Gerber, a German physician and botanist.
It was introduced to Japan in the early Taisho period and was called “花車/Hanaguruma(a car decorated with flowers or loaded with flowers)” or “花千本槍/Hana-senbon-yari(Flower thousand spears)” because of its flower shape.
It is also known as Cleopatra.
The flower words “sublime beauty” and “ultimate beauty” were born from “Cleopatra,” which is said to be the world’s three most beautiful women.
In addition, it is said that the flower language of “hope” and “always advance” was derived from the brightly and vividly alive way of life and the flower style, with colorful flowers such as pink and orange blooming.
Unfortunately, the birth flower has nothing to do with Greek and Roman mythology, but it is loved all over the world because of its many positive flower words. I think Gerbera is a beautiful flower that gives positive thinking, so I selected it as the birth flower of Torazou in October!

It is also said that it originated from the ancient word “つば/tsuba,” which means gloss, and the word “tsuba no ki(glossy tree)” was changed to “Tsubaki(camellia).”
Camellia in 古事記/Kojiki(Myths of the Emperors compiled in the early Nara period) and Manyoshu(This is the oldest surviving collection of waka(Poetry in the native Japanese form) poetry in Japan, probably dating from the late Nara period (710-794).) is a flower that has been loved in Japan since ancient times.
Because it is an evergreen tree that leaves green leaves throughout the year without dying in winter, and because it has the strength of life force that can be increased by cutting trees, it has been worshiped as a flower that symbolizes longevity and the breeding of offspring.
From ancient times in Japan, there has been a culture of sanctifying the “evergreen tree,” and camellias have been loved as sacred flowers that show divine will.
In addition, camellia is famous as the flower that 豊臣秀吉(Hideyoshi Toyotomi) loved.
侘助椿(Wabisuke camellia), which is said to have been viewed by 豊臣秀吉(Hideyoshi Toyotomi), still remains in 龍安寺/Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto, and it is said to be the oldest camellia in Japan.
Camellia was brought to Europe in the 17 century.
The camellia’s scientific name “Camellia japonica” and the English name “Camellia” are derived from the name of a Bohemian missionary, Joseph Camel, who called camellia in the West.
In the 19 century, it became very popular as a gardening variety in Europe, appearing in works of art such as operas and paintings.
CHANEL is famous for its camellia motif.
This is said to be based on the white camellia native to Japan that was given to Coco Chanel.
Even now, many items with a camellia motif are displayed in Chanel’s collection.
Camellia is loved all over the world, but there is also a negative superstition.
It is said to be an unlucky flower because the way the flowers fall is like the way bushi’s head is cut off.
Therefore, in Japan, it is taboo to take it to a visiting flower and it is avoided to use it for naming.
The camellia is beautiful and mysterious, but it seems to be a birth flower that has nothing to do with Greek and Roman mythology.
However, the camellia, which is said to be the rose of Japan and loved and loved all over the world, is thought to symbolize the beauty of Japan, so it was selected as the birthday flower of November by TORAZOU!

Named after British horticulturist William Cattley, who in the early 19 s was the first collector and first to succeed in growing flowers.
There is an anecdote that he was interested in the current Cattleya, which was used as a packaging material for other plants sent from Brazil, South America, and had it grow and bloom.
Oh… Beautiful flowers were used in the packaging.;
It is also called Cattleya or Cattleya, and because of its elegant atmosphere, it reigns as the top of the four oceanic orchids. It is also called “The Queen of the Orchid” or “The Queen of the Western Orchid”. It has been loved by European aristocrats for a long time and is still popular as an elegant flower.
It is not an official Japanese name, but in Japan, it is compared to a sunrise because of the beauty of its flowers, and it is also called “Hinodelan(sunrise orchid)”.
Cattleya has many varieties, so there are surprisingly many countries that have Cattleya as their national flower.
The country of Central America, Costa Rica, Colombia, which is famous for its name Columbus, and Brazil, Venezuela and other countries have named Cattleya as their national flower.
What these countries have in common is that they are the homeland of Cattleya.
Cattleya was originally a wild flower in Latin America, so it makes sense ^ ^
Furthermore, there is a story in Greek mythology that the flower of the orchid is a reincarnation of a spirit named Orchis, the son of Satyr and Nymph.
It is not Cattleya, but for reference ^ ^
